Video comparison: Defender 110 vs Jeep Rubicon (1/2 hr vid)

Even though both are serious off roaders i agree with Andrew that the jeep is setup for harder off road use and the landy for offroad/touring.....
I think a better comparison would be a 70 series vs a defender 110 or a patrol vs a defender 110.....they're all wagons.
I think in this comparison a 90 would have been a better to compare against the jeep. Both in vehicle size and payload (i know the 90s is more but would be closer)

He's done that before. That comparison (in part 2) also explains why he doesn't like leaving TDCis in gear when descending steep hills - the "stall prevention system".

It's low reverse where the problem lies. I had a frightening experience in my Puma, with low range reverse down a steep driveway! It accelerates! Anyone else had this experience?

I'm with you on that Neil. Low first is low enough. Of course when it is really uneven you have to resort to breaks and clutch. No low is low enough when it's like that. I grounded my chassis quite solidly a couple of times the other day. and I was literally inching my way down. so where is the line between low low and inching?

I had this a couple of weeks ago coming down a steep drive from a small studio. Went up no problems in low first, with a 3 point turn at the top to get into the studio. Coming out & after the 3 point machinations I set off down the ramp in low reverse & had to really stand on the brakes to stop at the bottom.

Yes exactly! It was almost as though the brakes weren't going to stop it. Suffice to say, I won't be reversing down any hill in low again! Seems to me like it's a glitch they hadn't thought of with the anti-stall idle jack. ...Beware, reverse low is not low or slow!
...not sure if this might be something that Pete from BAS may be able to remedy as part of a remap?

If you watch that video the defender gets away from him and he carries on about it,it got away from him because first low was too low and it broke traction,he should have used second. Pat

:cool:Ive got a good vid of my old 89 leafy sierra with just a 2 inch lift and muddies. and my 110 dual cab puma runnin the same track. from last year. Both great vehicles , chalk and cheese I suppose As said earlier my defender is for touring the long drive , and the zook is for fun in the mud
