I would tend to agree - unless you are doing remote touring and need the fuel load.
ie pic above approx 240 litres on board.

Put A couple of jerry cans on the back and use the spare $900+ for something worthwhile .I have done a fair bit of touring and never came short of a petrol station.

A long range tank is much safer, more convenient and you're less likely to get dirt in the fuel from jerry cans. The fuel weight is carried down low, easier to fill, less weight on roof, no potential missiles. ...If you can afford it a long ranger tank would be the way to go IMO.
Recently did the Long ranger 127+ aux 37L gravity fed system.
fits nicely and no issues with sway or anything else back there as a replacement to the original. Now used a tank full around town with 2 trips into some very soft sand (testing the vehicle set up) requiring a little bit of "trax" action and manged 1200km before the little orange light came on.

I have the original tank plus a 45 ltr in rear wing giving approx. 120ltrs. I saw a shorty with nice looking rear wheel carrier and 2 jerry holders recently and thought that might be the way to go instead of tucking 2 jerries inside/uptop for those extra long trips.
Not at 2600 + bucks I won't be though and I don't care how well made they are, that's an outrageous price.
Plus it would mean getting rid of my existing Rijidig carrier and trying to flog that for a reasonable price and getting the whole new set-up at the above price plus fitting, although I'd probably do that myself.
And as a new vehicle is probably not far away it's all just a time wasting exercise for me.

Just acquired a Rijidij rear wheel carrier with jerry cans for my 90. For the around the cost of a fitted sill tank with about 45litres I can now carry 40 litres on the back PLUS I have the spare wheel off the back door removing any future problems with sealing or sagging. Money well spent I reckon.

I like the wheel carrier but the extra 1500 or so to cart 2 jerries is not for me. But they will be well made as is all Rijidiji stuff.

A Long Ranger 120ltr tank is better value than the two jerrycan holder for $1500 IMO. I'd go for that with a single wheel carrier.
So if you have a genuine Towbar I have been told the LongRanger won't fit?????
Can anyone confirm.
