Rick I agree , I try to keep them just off the front R/arms for no other reason than to protect the tyre . I've never had any problems with damage to the C/Vs I suppose like everything the C/Vs have there limits , Maybe full lock trying to get out of a deep rut , even then I've never had one let go !!.. I had a hilux for 7yrs here in Malaysia before buying the Defender 2.5yrs ago.

I managed to break CVs 4 times, in the jungle, in the "unbreakable" 'lux and resorted to cranking steering lock stops out (less lock) in the end. (Opposite to what you all are discussing).

The rims were on the vehicle when we purchased it, and I haven't spotted any markings on it that say what they are...

Anybody jump in and have an idea of how I can tell? Measuring the wheel's dimensions (ie. centre relative to wheel outer/inner etc) would probably do it...

Hi guys. Please dont complain about your turning radice until you have a 6x6 then it realy come into its own..Its big.. The Disco is great then.The 6b its like turning a aircraft carrier.... But I love it...

Yep, if you give it full noise on full lock particularly on rock the CV will probably go bang.

That's why people use HD aftermarket CV's like Ashcroft or KAM, or fit anti-burst rings around AEU2522 CV's, or use the old RRC CV's with 10 spline outer stubs and use the stubs as a sacrificial part.

Yes, that's all you have to do.
Run a straight edge across the back face of the rim to the mounting face will give you your backspace measurement, and if you either know or can measure the rim width accurately you can work out your offset from that.

It wouldn't worry me, except that I don't want to rip off any of the "mud biter" lugs off the tyres...

Already have a shiny spot on each trailing arm where they rubbed before I adjusted them back.
