    Accessories advice.

I wanted to get some accessories for my 110 Defender - recovery points, spotlights, cargo barrier, long range tank, and storage draws.
My question is, should I get the dealer to do this prior to delivery, or should I take the car to someone like arb and get them to do it?

    Any thoughts.

    Hi,
Dealers aren't known for their off - road knowledge.

It may also add to the final price, thus affecting tax payable perhaps?

    Cheers

    I second that advise.

Go to a 4wd specialist especially on with LR knowledge if possible.

If you're in Sydney I HIGHLY recommend The Expedition Centre (Mulgo)

Best advice I received from a wise LR owner, do your research. You will find endless threads on here regarding all these topics, and there are pros and cons whichever way you go accessories wise. Also perhaps speak to some of the LR Independents around the place.
And finally...don't get the dealer to do it, you won't get the choices of some of the better brands that are on the market.
For example spotlights...Halogen...HID...LED...there's so many brands to choose from
Yes 4x4 specialists give some good advice, but depends on their preferred brands that they sell too.
And Babs is right...4x4 specialist with LR knowledge helps a lot too!

    Get ALL the accessories.
I'm slowly accessorizing my way to GVM.

Depends if you want to build / work on it yourself, or just drive in and drive out. I find half the fun with my mule is pulling it apart and modifying it. Just as much fun as driving it.

    Agree.

Half the fun is investigating your options, then either forking out the money or doing it yourself and still forking the money.

Don't get them from the dealer.

Get a clear vision for what you want the car to be and then as mentioned, do your research - and then do it again - to make sure that you get the optimal outcome for you. There's lots of options in each of the categories you mentioned, some common and some that are not well known. Read some build threads and talk to people who already have that accessory installed and find out what they love and what they hate about it, keeping in mind what vision they have for their vehicle.

Take the fuel tank for example (assuming your 110 is a wagon)... do you go for a replacement tank or do you add a quarter panel tank? The quarter panel tank may limit the size of tyre that you can fit and the replacement tank may reduce your clearance.

    Choose your poison wisely.

    Thank you for the comments.

I am in Perth. Is there a specialist Land Rover outfitter around?
