I buy Caltex because it has the most convincing snake oil in it. I can't do scientific tests because my driving style is a bit too Jekyll and Hyde. Another factor which determines which fuel I use is the general disposition of the Sub-continentals at the point of sale. :angel:

See... the 'bum dyno' makes no sense. That's the whole idea. Use a real dyno if you want to quote real figures :p
Any data you collect (power economy or otherwise) is subject to variance and error. This is made more accurate through having a good sample size. Measure accurately over a large sample size, or else whatever we quote is just rubbish.

I think Toxic avenger sumed it up pretty well, economy will always come down to a whole host of variables. Everybody will be subject to different situations with different circumstances as a result fuel economy will always be relative to ones daily usage. Id say 50% of my kms are done on the motorway hence helping my weekly fuel economy, but in reference to the op's post i think BP is much better than any other diesel out there as they use a better additive/additives in their fuel.Quote:

I have a friend who has been, prior to his retirement, been involved with the fuel industry for his whole life, dealt with oil companies, transported & delivered fuel, operated his own servo etc, and was heavily involved with the 15C Temperature Correction issue.
He told me that there was very little difference in our "base" fuel. He delivered to various sites. He said that there would be minor differences created by additives, but basically, all of the majors were pretty similar.

Yes I've heard the same from a somekne in the know, but I'm not so sure. Can it really just be additives? What about higher octane diesel? Like there are different grades of unleaded. Maybe the BP fuel formula itself is different?Quote:

I think it's placebo effect gents. Everything west of the great dividing range gets Singapore Sling. It comes in real big boats.....go to your local port and watch.
So the best fuel for your 2.2 is clean diesel from any pump.
