    Couple questions.

    1. Did you upgrade intercooler?

    2. What does the Bas170 remap cost?
I think it's time for you to send Pete Bell an email with your questions. You will find him a most amenable bloke. Perhaps before you do you should visit the group buy thread and have a read. I am certain you will love this product and the support you get from B.A.S.
    Cheers, Billy.

    ++++ what Longtimer wrote.

I went the BAS group buy and Pete is excellent to deal with and very responsive. Upgraded my intercooler to the Allisport , Pete sells those too.

The only wrinkle might be that the 2.2 ECU is "locked" by Landrover and needs to be "unlocked" to be able to use Pete's reflash tool. As part of the group purchase he supplied a new unlocked ECU as well, not sure if this offer is still valid. Also the Aussie dollar has moved since this deal so best to contact Pete for current pricing. You can check out his Faceplant page if you like as well. https://www.facebook.com/groups/bas2rrc/

I fitted the Allisport intercooler as well. It is advisable if your want to use the 170HP remap effectively.

    Somethings that I noticed......

I bought an Ultragauge with windscreen holder (the best idea out) and set it up with the gauges that I wanted to monitor, some time before I got the remap.

I saw no change to the air temp when I changed the intercoolers. Which I thought was odd. But it was winter so it was doing it's least amount of work. After a while I realised that it must be reading the air temp in the filter box as the temp changes in relation to engine temp to some extent.
There was also no change in the boost pressures. It still sat there at 22lb peak. I thought that was very interesting as most methods of gaining more power involve increasing the boost pressures so you can give it more fuel. And a larger intercooler "should" give you a cooler (and hence bigger) charge. I noticed no increase in power.

When I got around to the remap a few weeks later, (I have bad phone reception at my place so it delayed me unnecessarily) the first thing I noticed was that it was accelerating like mad, but the boost pressures didn't go past it's original boost pressures. I was actually expecting an increase there. The engine temp dropped 4 degrees. I had the EGR turned of. So that was interesting.

Recently while re-installing the 170 map (I always put the original map back on when it goes in for warranty work.... Which seems to be quite often.... Because they pick it up from my place of work and are therefore driving it.) I noticed on the monitoring tool from BAS that there is another air temp reading which must be post intercooler. Now to find it with the ultragauge.
If they could be pulling the computer out for any reason, I don't chance it, I put the original computer back in. It take 5 minutes all up.....

There's nothing like pulling out, accelerating up and overtaking a road train at 135 kmh, with nothing more than your normal stopping distance for a run-up, towing your off-road trailer loaded to the hilt (with cage on, tarped, weighing around 1200kg).... And knowing you could of accelerated up higher if it was required. :-) And dropping it back to 5th is an option.

    Phill.

    That is VERY unusual.
Pete has one of the best reputations for giving excellent service.
Give it another go, ........because as a Melbournite I was looking forward to your impressions of 150/170HP!!

That is strange. He goes quiet when he's on holidays but doesn't stay away for long.
