Justin tells me he has done quite a few remaps now in Defenders, for a company (the name escapes me) and
typical power increase is approx 25 kw (90kw-115kw, 120hp-153hp)with an increase in torque of 70-80 nm.
(360nm-430/440nm) I could have gone higher but I am not interested in having a vehicle that's highly strung.
I have also just had the centre muffler replaced by a 450 mm silencer, so I am keen to take it for a run tonight
    to check it out.
    Cheers Ian
The torque relative to power increase seems quiet good. I wonder what sort of egts you'd get with their tune. Did they mention expected egts?
How much further could they have pushed it power Wise?

Have you driven it on the motorway
Yet? If so how did it go at 110kmph?

Sorry for all the questions but I love info and want to compare it to my Alive tune (which I absolutely love).

All good, I've been wanting to take it for a blat. New exhaust is good, slightly throatier but not noisy which is good.

Egts are about the same ( i have a temp gauge mounted in the pocket on left of wheel)

Didnt ask how much more kw's
Very happy with what I have though.

Took it down to Burleigh Heads tonite, pulled like a freight train, pick up is great went from 40kph to 110 in 5th with no labouring then cruised in 6th.
Responsiveness is very impressive and the snatchiness in 2nd is all but gone.
    Cheers Ian

Found the time & dropped into Maptec this afternoon.
ECU was removed data transferred, mapping to be done.

Monday afternoon the new mapping will be installed & I can give it a good test up Mt Tambourine, then Friday the truck goes on the dyno for an information update.

    im excited

    Cheers
    Dave

The 120-150bhp increase seems similar from memory to the BAS 122-150 bhp without the intercooler to go to 170bhp. Is that right?

Heh - I originally bought into the BAS 150hp tune. Logic being I wasn't really looking for more hp - but wanted the EGR managed and the smoother drive. No need for any intercooler upgrade. Nice and simple.

Good as the 150hp BAS tune was - the extra ponies got me lusting for even more. So it was only days later I asked for the step up to 170hp and ordered the larger intercooler. Did the air filter box mods.

    Never looked back after that!

Its a dust seperator/ejector. It's actually a pretty good design despite it being widely rubbished and removed.
Yes its slightly restrictive, but the high air velocities created by it are good for spinning the dust out and into the duckbill underneath.

Of course, you could replace it with a precleaner on a snorkel.

What did you do to your Puma today?

I finally finished off the pantry drawer/fridge platform I started the other week. Now painted and carpeted.

I've still gotta put some tie down points on. But first gotta decide on what fridge to buy. Ice box has been fine for years but we're now planning longer trips.

With the left over plywood and a couple of hinges I made a folding table top for the Frontrunner Wolf Pack boxes. We usually travel with 2-4 of these.
They stack great but the top surface is annoying.

With this little table top we've got a super stable 4 position bench. Folds in half so it fits in the wolf pack. The "legs" match the pattern of wolf pack top and stop it moving in any direction. Super simple but super useful.
