The more I think of my setup - I may actually install the Parker P4 prior to the OEM element, run a 10micron in the P4, with the standard 5micron in the OEM.
With the integral pump of the P4 shouldnt pose a problem pushing through two filters.

Shouldnt have to change the factory element much at all.

ElRey, I have had my 130 treated by Roland Graf in Cairns. They use a wax based coating to all surfaces and cavities. It dries hard enough that it poses no problems when working on things like filters, suspension components etc etc after treatment.

I wouldnt stress either way doing the filter before or after?

Hi , sorry for late reply, I have a 2008 2.4 tdci and I have the racor 230 r installed first in fuel line with a 10 micron filter (for water trap purposes and second OEM as final filter) and I have the water alarm kit on it wired into the racor and thats what saved me when the alarm went off, I stopped, drained the water bowl 6 times on a 100km trip home and it stopped collecting water after that, I then drained the OEM filter, it had only about 4ml of water in it. I have had no problem in 35000km and know someone that has done over 120,000km with this setup,

The Racor filters obviously work then, maybe it only those Japanese vehicles that have issues with the flow rate of the fuel.
I cracked mine tonight and got no water out, a good thing considering the number of wet paddocks and causeways I've been through over the last couple of weeks.

So it seems the 2.4 transfer pump has no problem drawing through an extra 10micron filter
Seems I am not going to have troubles - might even keep the 12V pump just for priming

If so, it mentions this: Please advise if you need 5/16" or 3/8" straight or 90 degree fittings which come with this unit.

Can you say which is the way to go?

I was talking to my local (very friendly and experienced) LR mechanic at main dealer today.

He said that in 12 years with JLR, he has only had 2 cases of water in the fuel. And both were due to water entering the system via the breather pipe, rather than dodgy fuel... :confused:

Yes, breathers first I think, then maybe a filter.
This is the result when water isn't removed from an original filter.

That's similar to how mine looked at 80k,, should have been changed at 40 during the service if I remember correctly.
