I use molybdenum grease the same stuff used to lube universal joints and cv joints.

I have just ordered the two splined components from LR, I have read on here that they are recommending a particular grease for the splines, is anyone able to tell me what grease should be used?

I've heard the term "copper grease"?....anybody else heard that?
Pickles.
Copper Cote is usually used as an anti sieze . First started in the drilling industry to prevent drill rods from being unable to be undone. We use it on long bolts like 300tdi water pump through p gasket ones or anywhere where corrosion is inevitable.

What JC recommended.
Any decent Li complex or even better, Ca Sulfonate soap based grease with a minimum 3% moly (5% is better) will do.
Calcium Sulfonate greases resist corrosion better than any other soap base.
Anti-seize, either copper or Nickel based are ok, but I think an NLGI #2 grease with lots of moly and perhaps other lubricating solids (lead was a really good one but is illegal these days) is better.
MoS2 is excellent for extreme pressure/slow speed situations when the hydrodynamic boundary layer of a lubricant breaks down, eg, splines.
Ideally yes, as grease doesn't last forever, or install this kit. Ashcroft Transmissions
Most of us convert post '90 axle/drive flanges to oil lubed for the same reason.
JC would have a far better idea than moi on regreasing intervals, but I'm guessing 40,000km wouldn't hurt.
Having said that, clutch splines seem to last the life of a plate ok.
Any thoughts JC ?
