Mine are adjustable, 2000 model. If yours aren't, I may be looking to get ride of mine shortly, planning on putting a different set of seats in it.

Yes they are , there are plastic clips on the side of the rods , on top on the seat that if you press then you can move them up or down . You can even take them out . It's easier if you can get someone to give you a hand , as you have to press them both and pull or push at the same time !!.. Jim

Pre puma it's single rod , best option there is to take the seat cover up at the back and have a look. There is a retainer clip in the backrest but with the back cover off there is a good chance you can figure out a way to adjust and resecure at your preferred height.

Pull it up really hard. wriggling it will help.

    and instructions stolen from Defendersource.

Headrest Removal Tips. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to do it:

Step 1. Try to pull out the headrest.
Step 2. If that doesn't work repeat Step 1 but pull harder.
Step 3. If that doesn't work, peel up the OEM seat cover up to expose the headrest bracket on the back on the seat. The headrest bracket is in a flat tube and has a one-way retaining clip that acts as a catch.
Step 4. Use a a punch and hammer to knock the clip out of the way.
Step 5. Pull out the headrest.
Step 6. If that doesn't work, use a hammer to knock the headrest loose which may have surface rust that's preventing removal.
Step 7. Once removed, fold back down the OEM seat cover and re-secure.
