I put a kit off uk ebay in mine maybe 2 1/2years ago still going well, You need to remove it to put the kit in

Either way it requires to be removed.

I used the rebuild kit and it lasted four years - I recently noticed that it's leaking. I don't know what my FPR that I rebuilt was though (genuine, OEM or pattern) which may explain why the rebuild also didn't last.

The rebuild that I used was o-rings and gasket only but I note that now they are available with the new diaphragm housing unit which is better.

Big price difference between the two and I'm planning on trying a full rebuild next.

I used a kit from UK with just gaskets and oring, as my FPR itself was not leaking.

It's an idea to get down with a mirror or borescope and see if it is leaking from the FPR itself or the gasket. Mine was from the gasket as one bolt wasn't very tight, so it was quite cheap to fix. If the diaphragm is gone it will **** out of the drain hole.

I removed the inlet manifold to get access and it has gone now for 3.5 years without a leak.

Make sure you clean the head and FPR body well and don't use sealant.

The only other consideration is the hose from the FPR to the front of the head on EU3. If it is hard it may be worthwhile to buy a whole body with hose, as they can fail.

If your going to the trouble of pulling it off id replace the diaphragm aswell .
With a manual D2 it is a right pain i did it with out removing any thing else , Next time if there is i might remove the intake manifold.

I just bought a new block, because I find the job of removing it awful. I'd rather deal with burnt ATF than do FPRs

I just got a new one from LRDirect. Got even lazier and had my local mechanic replace it when it was in for a rego check (by the time I'd done brakes, rear axle seal and pitman arm I had no tolerance left for the FPR!).
