    Did you get it done?

So CarpDVI, did you end up getting the conversion done? Its very quiet on this thread re vehicles on the road with the conversion, over a year since the last message. (Can’t find any owners posts at all re the experience and benefits gained, but the same goes for the LS3 conversions as well though.)

I’m going to see if I can drop into Glenns’ shop in early Feb when I head over to the mainland for a month, so as to view the installation and test drive if able. I’ll contact him this week to discuss, I’m going to decide whether to go 3.2 or LS3, and need the pros and cons from the installers.

The 6 speed auto will also be installed at the same time, then I can sell my Discovery 4 HSE, and the Puma 2.2 and gear box.

Watch this space, as I intend to have it done (either engine) by May this year (2020) and will certainly post my views on the conversion befits, and photos, videos etc.

For the others curious I had a chat with Glenn and ended up checking out the conversion on the long weekend. Needless to say was sold after a quick drive.

Totally transforms the feel of the car and Glenn has a great shop with some other awesome projects going on (some other unreal swaps)

Will definitely be dropping mine off in the new year!

    Unfortunately not! Postponed for now.

Do drop in though. Glenn had a tonne on the go when I went - LS3 conversion for a kiwi defer, Cummins (or some other diesel V8) going in a perentie, the aforementioned 3.2...

So any which way he will be able to give you sound advice on it.

    New 3.2 project

    Hello everybody,
Sorry for my poor english, I live in Belgium . I'm just begining the realisation of a dream, put a 3.2 in my 2.4 puma defender.
An ugly Ford Transit has taken place in my garage Saturday... ugly but big 5 pots heart .

I've read many of defenders forums (AUS, UK,...) and have a relatively clear view of what challenge is in front of me.

Just now 3 questions in my head:

    1) Do you keep the auxiliaries (alternator, PS pump, A/C compressor) like on the Transit/Ranger, or like on the Defender ?
    2) If A/C compressor like on the defernder, I've read the their is an issue to close the hood, and we need to lower the motor mounts. What answer have you found for that ?
3)Do you have problem with the front axle that goes on the oil pan when the axle goes up while offroading ? Even the 2.4 had a recall for a new oil pan with clearance for the front axle

Thank you for reading and hope this thread will live !

    Hi Mathieu;

Im not sure you’ll get too much informed info here as there’s very few Defenders with this engine swap currently, and I’ve not seen any comments from current owners.

Grinna (Glen) is the technician on here who has success in fitting them at his business ‘Momentum 4x4’.

All the best for the install and don’t forget to send pictures here!

    3.2 update

    Afternoon Team,

I am looking to purchase my dream car (defender) but am feeling like the 2.2 will be lacking, so I am seriously comsidering buying a clapped out defender for cheap and replacing the engine to a 3.2.

Anymore information on long term testing for the conversion for axles/diffs and drivetrain? does it wear the 2.2/2.4 drivetrain and axles out fast or is it safe to swap in.

    thanks in advance

    Noob

I don't think you will find a clapped out 2.2 or 2.4 defender.

    I don't know what 3.2 engine you hope to transplant.....a 5cyl Ford?

What axle diff conversions are you thinking of?

still there are many modified defenders on this forum.

    3.2 update

Have you even read this thread?

I have found a 2.4 with 300k on the clock for cheap, so I guess I would call that clapped out.

That entirely depends on what you call cheap, 300k is barely run in.
