    Update

KLR installed a new ABS relay today and cleared the 'sticking pump' fault code. I'm not entirely surprised that it didn't work, given the relay has sod all to do with the pump sticking.

Brad seems to think a new ABS module might be required and he suggested trying to find one second hand so we might go down that route. Will update when I know more.

I was told that the Puma ABS is pretty much the same as the Td5 Wabco system. Personally, I wouldn't embark on replacing bits without having plugged in a diagnostic tool like the nanocom to see what fault codes it comes up with. It could be a shuttle valve, the ABS pump and a couple of other things. Last time, I had to look for a ABS module, I was looking at $3500 from memory.
    Hope that helps.

OUCH. Reckon I'll just live with it if that's the cost. $3500 for the ABS to work? I might need a new gearbox so I'll hope that Santa can help me out with the ABS module...or that we can find one second hand.

The boys used their computer and identified the specific code and it was the pump sticking. They're onto it but wish they'd be in as much of a hurry to solve the problem as I am.

Check to see if the wire at the brake fluid reservoir cap has worked its way loose. Happened on mine last month with the same symptoms.

Just checked - thanks Island_Moose. All looks fine under the hood though. Well, apart from all the dirt.

Brad ran a diagnostic test on it this morning and the system asked for us to rotate each wheel forwards (up on a jack) so it could apply the brakes but nothing happened so he's pretty sure the modulator has messed its trousers.

Now these are expensive but Brad mentioned that he's wrecking a burnt out Defender so he'll check to see if the module on that is still good and if so we'll swap them over. Fingers crossed. Looks like I need a shiny new gearbox from Ashcroft too so the dollars are flying out the door with considerable verve and vigour at the moment.
