    130 Wheel Spacers

    Afternoon All,

Have any of the 130 crew fitted spacers to improve the turning circle of your tanks?

Spacers are illegal so I used 0 offset rims.
That gave me a 40mm track increase and helped the turning circle big time

Why are the spacer illegal? Surely there is no difference between offset rims and spacers?

I ran spacers on my last 110 in the uk, with heavy off road use without fault.

I am also very keen to use wolf rims, and I am looking into re-engineering the rims to improve the offset, but spacers would be more cost effective.

Sorry mate but not legal on public roads anywhere in Oz (unless they were fitted by the manufacturer). Different offset rims are quite common and probably your only option.

Yes illegal but it seems a lot of 70 series cruisers are running them. Not sure if they are being pulled up for running them.

In reality I could not see anyone being pulled over specifically for wheel spacers. I would also bet that there would not be too many failures either. My thoughts are that if the poo hits the fan in an accident, your insurance company maybe looking for a reason not to process a claim.

0 offset are your best legal option

I used infinity rims as they are rated at 1250 kg per wheel @ 0 offset

Like most such laws, they undoubtedly follow the unfortunate result of badly designed or made spacers! Probably only a single nasty incident, at a guess.

Yeah, wonder when that happened - they’ve been illegal as long as I can remember.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
