D1 has a reflector on the tail gate where it would obscure the tail light, ive seen a few other cars with the same if not lights

D1s certainly had them.

Legal or not I think it would improve your chances to prevent someone running up your backside if the taillights were visible.

I would prefer to take my vehicle away from a situation on the side of the road where a vehicle might run up the back. I would not want to rely on the taillight on the drivers side for my safety. But I guess every little bit helps.

Next the ladder goes back on and need to plug the holes left by the plate/light (or get creative with that real estate - perhaps a big Times Up Tony sticker ). Any suggestions what works well for plugged without being an eye sore on a white car? Was thinking rivets
