    300tdi boost compensator

Hey everyone, I have a bit of a smoky 130 and today I checked the pin position was close to factory. I found the pin had black oily substance on it where the fuel fin would sit against. Is this considered normal? I wasn't expecting any oily gunk there and feel like last time I saw it, it was clean?

no, typically when Isee them like that there is also diesel sitting in the bottom of the guide tube which means the seal for the needle that follows the cam is failing or has failed.

Thanks Dave! Is that a pump out rebuild job? Any reason they fail? I also have a suspected leaky turbo (although doesn't feel like it's too bad when wobbling it about) or some ring blow by as there is quite a bit of oil pre and post turbo. Coincidence?
