Provent/RYCO catch can oil collection quantity question

    Greetings all,
I have recently fitted a provent/RYCO catch can to my 2.2 Puma engine that was rebuilt 10,000 k's ago, I have noticed that in a 200 km trip on the highway, I am collecting 200 mils into a container from the drain port of the catch can.
Is 200 mils too much for a engine that has done only 10,000 k's, however; even at the 5000km mark I had noticed that it was using oil and the PCV pipe back into the air intake before the turbo was very oily.
What I have read is that modified engines do tend to have more blow-by gasses which can cause more oil out of the PCV, I have the BAS 170 tune, however; on the highway I would be just basically cruising and not on full power.

I am wondering in the first instance that the PCV valve or the oil/vapour seperating medium in the rocker cover could be faulty?
Has anyone else seen this issue?

Sounds to me like the rings have not fully sealed.
have you taken it for a hard drive up some big hills flat out preferably towing something?
Cannot comment on TDCI but my TD5 puts in about 5-10 ml in 5000KMs.
To me your catch can is really working well.
    Regards PhilipA

    Thanks PhillipA,
The 200 km commute has hills as I drive in from the Monaro region to Queanbeyan,
I had the bores honed by an engine rebuilder after getting a new sleve installed after holing a piston, and fitted new pistons with new rings, and spacing the ring gaps 120 degrees apart.
I am wondering if inside the rocker cover filtering is not doing it's job correctly?

Chrome rings can take a while to seat properly.
A change in oil (brand) can make a huge difference, too.
I've seen that quite a few times, where one oil suits a ring/bore finish better than another.

I will tyr a different brand of oil, as I am using Penrite 5-40 HP5 full synthetic.
I wonder if I could use a mineral oil till the rings bed in and change it at the 5000km mark?, I don't think a 5-30 mineral oil is available.

How many KM on the engine when it failed?
    What number piston failed?
Just asking because I did an engine at 105K
Anymore details about the failure or repair.

Mine holed a piston because of a different remap that starts with the letter "A"....not one but twice....at the 100,000km mark and 160,000 km, I though that the first time it was just bad luck, and the second time it was a remap fault as the injectors tested fine.
I have a BAS remap now and have had no issues.

I have a feeling that perhaps the bores have glazed and the rings have not bedded in properly.
