Interesting...what are they like?

With a massive storm rolling across the alpine area of Eastern Australia. I thought it was the best time to go up snow camping along the Tamboritha - Moroka Rd. The weekend started blue sky and warm weather when we first drove up there. And then i thought it was safe. So i took the fun track back along the main road which didn't turn out so good. The first half was easy and then it opened up to the plains and i sunk to my sills in the mud. 4 hours of hand winching forwards with no luck. Had there been a tree behind me then i would have been out in no time.

When we got stuck there was no snow on the ground. And half way through it started to come down. And then i decided we weren't going to get out tonight. So off into the tree line we carried all our camping gear. A great but cold night in a blizzard. Woke up the next morning with my tent half under snow. I had planned and prepared for snow camping. Just i was more thinking next to the car. At least i had enough gear with me.

The next day we walked 2 1/2kms down the track to the main road. Where i got assistance from a Hilux driving by. Another 2 hours of shoveling, winching and lifting up my car with a hi lift and i was out of there. Back down into the warm sun and driving home to finally relax.

This photo was taken at 5pm after only an hour of snow and the night before the main blizzard. I awoke to find the car even more covered and all the doors frozen shut.
