The last time this happened for me was to a County in the group. Transpired it had been bent before, it wasn't going to be safe.

We jammed a hi lift handle over it to sleeve it.

Tested it. Bent but saved the steering gear, a little harder and I'm not so sure. Gonna try and straighten it now and will probably modify to fit original tube as well as the bottom edge in the middle has no support. The steel brackets haven't bent though. It does seem to hang lower and ground alot earlier too than the standard bar

no alloy the marks are from the coffee rocks. Did a run on the second day and everything was fine, just touched the chassis rail on the return pass. The pics are the first run. On the third day I didn't get out and have a look and had a car full of people as well. A big tide had washed out all the sand filling the holes up. But once I was committed I had no choice. Front went in a BIG hole with both fronts dangling in mid air but the locker drove me up using the guard as a slide. Used side steps as sliders, tested front and rear diff guards, touched everything and put a slight dint in the tank. The steering rod clamp bolts face down and are just scraping the top where the guard is bont up when the left front wheel is dropped on full articulation but all else is good.

It did save your steering arms and sump etc. A little harder? - nothing can save equipment in some situations.

It was a pretty gentle slide into the hole and as mentioned the steering arm clamp was touching the bent guard in some circumstances. Was refering to maybe hitting something at speed while trying to negotiate a boghole are bulldust or wombats.

Bigger tyres would have prevented that

you mean if I strapped a huge tyre there instead of the guard
maybe it would have bounced up
