Thread: 300 Tdi turbo: Question #2

You know what a swannee (?) whistle sounds like? Well, about 50% of the time on start-up I get this weird flute-like sound that sometimes rises smoothly in pitch like that darn whistle; and blipping the throttle doesn't interrupt it. I've checked all the hoses and clamps but to my untrained ears it definitely sounds like something sucking or blowing. It even sounds quite comical and I usually look around to see if anyone's staring!

Check for a leak from a manifold gasket.
