I'm running Coopers 255 85r 16 on standard 1998 Defender 130 rims. When turning at full lock they do rub slightly, apart from that they are fine. These tyres are 844mm diameter (33inch) given this one very noticible and positive outcome is the 130's speedo now matches my GPS of which both calibrate to VIC roads speed check Calder Highway Diggers Rest.

If anyone is interested I also have 4 x 16 inch S1 Disco rims for sale with my 130's original Mitchilin tyres fitted, not sure of the size though. The Mitchilins are well down on tread however I do have 1 brand new Mitchelin of the same from the 130's spare rim.

Another question, what other size's in a 33inch is out there? eg 285/75r16 and 255/85r16. no bigger then the 285's?? To me it seems like the 255/85 could be the go, seem to fit better with standard shocks but then 285's better traction being wider what your thoughts guys?
