The Volvo I'm currently driving whilst the Puma is in for some work has very nice heating and cooling, just like the Disco had![]()

Im just reading this post and try to remember how my "climate control" works,
Regarding the hot air:
In fact, in our case put the heater at full is quite hot and I didn't find any change in the heat at least in the 1st end quarter of the dial. Maybe has been done for sub-zero climates. But for me put the heater in 3/4 or full is the same.
Regarding the A/C
I cannot complain too much: Try to cold the 3rd row and you will be freezing in the 1st row.
Am I the only one that finds this ironic?In previous Land Rovers, including Defenders, people commented on the poor job the heater did. Also on the fresh air comming into the vehicle from around the door seals. This last item was a built in safety feature that required no adjustment from the driver to get it to work. Land Rover were definately ahead of the pack there. Think of all those supposedly perfectly built "foreign" cars where you had to put the window down to get fresh air in. Definately a safety hazard there. Us Land Rover men had it without moving a finger thus keeping out attention on the road. Sadly with the latest incarnation of the Defender-the Puma- Land Rover no longer give us this feature as a built in option. We have to open a window or even worse still adjust the heating control dials.
Compared to previous Defenders the heating system in the Puma is downright complicated.When you have grown up flicking two levers with your fingers as you drive, having to turn nobs and move sliding controls is a downright nuisance!Gets me every time. I nearly have to pull over to do it.
Fair enough it does not go up or down in notches but rather jumps in stages. Still it is a marvel, if a little complicated compared to previous other incarnations of the 90/110. The constant flow of air upwards is a devilishly clever way of keeping the windscreen clear.Never having had a "normal" car but always driven a 90 or a 110 this is spaceage technology to me.Yes I am still in awe of it and I frequently spend a whole evening just reading and re-reading the instructions for the heater controls in the handbook.Anyway just enjoy it as we have waited a long time for it. Best of all it is a standard fitment and not an additional high cost option. What will they think of next?
