Looks awsome You would be saving yourself thousands this way. Also you can purchase an extended warrenty from LR for once the standard 3 year runs out if your worried.

Go for it you'll love it!

    Cheers,

Bought ours without so much as a test drive. No regrets. If you are looking for
the perfectly built turned out motor, it has not been invented yet.Like us all it will have it's quirks and foibles but such is life. Enjoy

I'm off to give it a test drive on Friday, I'll give an update after I have driven it.

I am only concerned about major failures, which seem to be generally associated with "Friday" cars; i just want avoid one of these, faults which I can fix myself make the truck interesting to own.

I have found (on carpoint) a 2008 (07MY) 110 Station Wagon for $39950, 22,700km, Zermat Silver. I asked if there have been any issues (clutch, gear box rattle, diffs, vacuum pump failing, loss of power, rust, Water leaks from rain, etc...), however the owner has replied that it has been faultless mechanically.

Any thoughts on the asking price vs condition would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Buy a 300 tdi and learn to love macarno or a td5 late one and get a ecu loom extention and mount it on the cross bar of the roof.
then you will have happy days at a great price.

Well I took it for a test drive on Friday and it went well. No weird sounds from the drive train, breaks, clutch, etc... Checked the vacuum pump and I am pretty sure it's the original (so I'll have to get it changed) and the fuel tank breather hose needs to be relocated from behind the wheel. Overall it looks like a really sound vehicle with some minor faults. Hopefully I will be a land rover owner by the end of the weekend.

    Hi everyone,
I have just got the NRMA report back on the defender. The only worrying thing is the clutch operation. Apparently there are two audable "clunks" when depressing the clutch; this occurs through all gears. I was listening for this on the drive test drive but didn't pick it up. Is this the clutch going or standard for a landrover clutch? If it is the clutch going this should be covered by warranty right? Apart from that the vehicle was very tidy.

    Cheers
