I supose you have better conditions in Australia to keep a diesel engine, but I know there have been a lot of troubles here in Colombia with TD4.... as far as I know Land Rover had to stop selling them here due to stinking fuel breaking engine issues.... I think that's enough for me to not buying or upgrading for a Puma (how in the hell a "rough" car can work well with crap diesel?), unless Land Rover fixes it..... also, I haven't seen any puma doing decent 4x4 (all videos are kind of doing some low level crossing, or some steep hill, but nothing where we can see if all will respond as a Defender). I apologize if many of you have Pumas and have made really rough 4x4, but I haven't see it.....
Yes I've heard about this issue - the fix seems to be a simple inline filter which from memory one of the forum members fitted up very quickly. Not sure why LR haven't yet done it.
As for the second issue about offroad performance - feedback from the group here suggests it's at least as capable as the TD5.
On my test drive, as I was returning the vehicle to the dealer, I pointed it at the 25-30 degree sloped ramp they have, engaged 1st gear HIGH range, took my foot off the clutch and it walked itself unaided up the ramp. That can only be brilliant offroad - esp. in low. Anti-stall technology rocks...
