It's called the "Resources Curse" as governments don't have to invest in their people's education, or anything else really, just dig stuff up and ship it out.

Thanks I hadn't heard that term.
And all the capital instead of going to business to create productive enterprise gets funnelled straight into the property market. I did a semester of economics at uni, and the idea of bank lending was supposed to be to allow businesses to invest and create jobs and wealth. Meanwhile...

Thank goodness for that, I was starting to think you were an economist, and can overlook a youthful indiscretion. Those graphs are a mirror image of each other so definitely related. Makes sense with a fixed pool of money.
Sorry about the AI narration and the mis-pronounciations that mandates.

BYD have been transferring from having EAGERS from managing their brand to self managing it. Bit of confusion during the switch over. Frankly it astonishes me how brands manage such large volumes of cars. You know these ships can sometimes have like 5000 cars on them right? It takes time to work through delivering them. Every car maker struggles with this. There are car storage areas all over the place. BYD paying the water park as a temporary area. Seems like a fair idea to me.
Have a look at the port of brisbane. Cars up the wazoo.

This is one of the paid facilities that manufacturers use.

Yes, October was a quieter month - that's fairly common for both BYD and Tesla, they have big and small months.
Just a moment...
Here a article on the situation.

EDIT: I'm no friend of BYD - but this FUD is just what it says on the box. Rubbish. The world is going to keep spinning. The are just cars with a battery.
I'm posting this in here. There maybe better places but I'm not sure of them. They are electric vehicles.
Anyway up to 2021 there was a requirement for all e-bikes to meet en15194. This describes many things about them.. one of which was that the bikes are pedal assist only, and that the assistance must cut out at 25kph. Anyway in 2021 this requirement was removed by the morrison government meaning that it was basically open slather. You could import anything with the proviso that it was for "use on private property"
This had lead to "whacky races" on bike paths in QLD at least. It's also resulted in people getting killed. The states were unable to really do much. They could confiscate a bike .. but meanwhile hundreds more are hitting our paths. So this will help with that issue.
I post this in here because it will also likely help with fire safety. Compliant devices tend to be far higher quality so we should see safer batteries.
Of course it's only part of the problem because Personal Mobility Devices (IE scooters) don't have to meet this standard.

Oh gee's .... I love the seppos idea of a hybrid. This has to be the most hilarious thing ever.

This is just awesome. How does a hybrid ev with a 6 litre v8 grab you [bigrolf] Man that is hilarious, look I just found a hybrid I'd actually buy !
I'm not sure what that video was about .. 40 minutes of rambling. I think the summary was he bought an old hybrid that was a heap of junk new, and 16 years later is now even more a heap of junk? I'm not sure what the lesson is there.
Personally I'm not a fan of Hybrids. I understand there might be applications for them, but for the most part they are the worst of both worlds. A car with both a full ice system, and an EV all in one. Poor packaging as they have two fuel systems, and an exhaust system. Very likely cook a HV battery as it's gets snotted every drive.
Look if you really need the particular capability - but if you don't why put yourself through it?
Hybrids especially plug in ones are a good idea, as less fuel burnt means less emissions, and the may be a "gateway drug" as once people experience how quiet and smooth it is on electric, they might think why not have this all the time.
