I can't believe I'm even having this conversation. You are so obviously someone that has never towed a thing. Its nothing to do with 3.5 ton tow capacity (that actually reduces considerably with a lot of twin cabs to stay within the GVM). The average aussie caravan weighs easily two tons. You can buy european caravans that will get you down under 1500kgs (still to much for a passenger sedan). An empty rental tow trailer will usually weigh about 1250kgs ... as will an empty furniture trailer. A tradies trailer empty will be upto around 1200kgs if its a twin axle job. You graphically display how clueless you are on this topic.
Ok, so now if I own a twin cab ute, I'm not allowed to keep it in "pristine" nice condition. Say who keeps bragging about how much money they spend on there twin cab ute keeping it in pristine condition. Remind me again? How much have you spent on your twin cab ute again?Quote:
So you think what they drive affects the way people might think of them? Bingo.. That's marketing doing it's job. Everyone thinks they are different.
I would suggest that your assumptions about normal usage are just as valid as mine. Sorry - but when I see a pristine dual cab driving around suburbia I will continue to count that as an "virtue signaling vehicle". There are no hard figures of course - just what people answer in surveys. I'm sure everyone has their special reason why. I would think Continental have probably got the percentage right.
What is your point. "SUV" is a stupid term and covers all of the little jacked up hatch backs that fill our roads. Once again this is a competely meaningly statistic. Why would the average tradie take there work vehicle offroad. Why would the average boat owner or caravan owner want to bang up there tow car taking it offroad. Why would the average jacked up hatchback/pretend 4wd filling the supermarkets and school carparks with to go offroad. Talk about dumb.
what on earth does a twin cab ute have to do with the environement. You are starting to sounds like a simpleton. So australia creates about 1% of global c02. of this 1%, 20% of this is transport. Of this 20% of 1% probably 5% (or less) percent ... they don't want us to know how tiny it is personal cars. Of all the cars on the road ... what would twin cab utes be ... lets be incredibly generous and say 5%. So we are talking about 5% of 5% of 20% of 1%. bascially we are talking about a sparrow fart in the global emissions. This is all in your head and you just want to control what others buy.Quote:
Are you aware that Tesla doesn't do marketing apart from a few socials? So I reckon your statement is entirely made up.
Just a moment...
Again.. clearly looking at the numbers Australians have been convinced that they need dualcabs and they are prepared to pay for them. But - we got by and did everything we needed to up until very recently without them. So if we want to achieve our climate goals then at least some of us are going to have to make better choices.
I'm not sure what you mean. You were talking twin cab utes, but are now referencing "SUVs" which is a stupid american term that cover pretty much all of the jacked up hatchbacks sold today. Most of which are just small FWD hatchbacks jacked up a bit with big wheels so middle aged women will buy them.Quote:
I'm darn sure car companies will be fighting to the bitter end to keep milking the DC/SUV cash cow. I'm also sure they hope that when NVES bites they will somehow be able to dodge it.
