Attempting to conflate the two just demonstrates your ignorance. Sure, asbestos was bad stuff. Badly maintained diesels can emit bad stuff too. Diesel emissions are heavier than air. Have you ever seen a lithium mine? Seen the processes involved in making it into a viable ingredient of batteries? Seen how the stuff is transported? It's about as environmentally friendly as the atomic bomb. But you can't see it while you wait for the kiddies after school, so that's ok then.

If you truly cared about the environment and air quality you'd be Amish, and use a horse.

Particles are a problem, and they are common to all vehicles. EV's do tend to be better because they have less particles from brakes. Most drives I actually don't use the friction brakes at all.

None the less - it shows that the actual best environmental outcome is to walk, ride etc. If you must drive then EV's are somewhat better than your DC ute.

I worked in a near new building in one of Hobart's main thoroughfares. One of the main air intakes was above the front door which was up 1 flight of stairs and set back 15m from the street.
Maintenance to the duct was needed after about 10 years which exposed several cm of sticky black deposits of tyre dust and diesel smoke lying in there.
    Disgusting!
    We were breathing that.
City air is not clean by any measure.
    Cheers

I'm in the suburbs of Brisbane. Our white window sils get covered in black dust - the big bits of diesel emissions. All the little ones you never see of course. They are the ones that go through the lung membrane into the blood.

I'll say nothing about the veracity or otherwise of this vid, but if it's even half true I wouldn't be buying a Panda EV for any money. I guess we're lucky the domestic cars won't pass certification OS, or they'd be dumping them on us, or Europe. Make of this what you will, but it's food for thought..

You should see the black crud on the roof of our work vans after a month or so.
It is also extremely difficult to get off.

I don't need another car. Will run what I have. Best outcome.

EDIT: though it would be an ideal substitute for all the shiny DC ute owners that are only used on the school run.. who should actually really just be driving an EV..

    Speaking of monster EV utes.

The thing I found interesting here was the price per kwh and for petrol in the us is very similar. Only they get a gallon instead of a litre. I guess that's what you get for a monster military instead of healthcare.

I don't even need to watch it ... I already know the answer. It is "yes". It would be an awesome tow vehicle being electric. Its just weather you have the time and infrastructure to charge it along the route ....
