I can't believe I'm even having this conversation. You are so obviously someone that has never towed a thing. Its nothing to do with 3.5 ton tow capacity (that actually reduces considerably with a lot of twin cabs to stay within the GVM). The average aussie caravan weighs easily two tons. You can buy european caravans that will get you down under 1500kgs (still to much for a passenger sedan). An empty rental tow trailer will usually weigh about 1250kgs ... as will an empty furniture trailer. A tradies trailer empty will be upto around 1200kgs if its a twin axle job. You graphically display how clueless you are on this topic.
Ok, so now if I own a twin cab ute, I'm not allowed to keep it in "pristine" nice condition. Say who keeps bragging about how much money they spend on there twin cab ute keeping it in pristine condition. Remind me again? How much have you spent on your twin cab ute again?
So you think what they drive affects the way people might think of them? Bingo.. That's marketing doing it's job. Everyone thinks they are different.
I would suggest that your assumptions about normal usage are just as valid as mine. Sorry - but when I see a pristine dual cab driving around suburbia I will continue to count that as an "virtue signaling vehicle". There are no hard figures of course - just what people answer in surveys. I'm sure everyone has their special reason why. I would think Continental have probably got the percentage right.
What is your point. "SUV" is a stupid term and covers all of the little jacked up hatch backs that fill our roads. Once again this is a competely meaningly statistic. Why would the average tradie take there work vehicle offroad. Why would the average boat owner or caravan owner want to bang up there tow car taking it offroad. Why would the average jacked up hatchback/pretend 4wd filling the supermarkets and school carparks with to go offroad. Talk about dumb.
what on earth does a twin cab ute have to do with the environement. You are starting to sounds like a simpleton. So australia creates about 1% of global c02. of this 1%, 20% of this is transport. Of this 20% of 1% probably 5% (or less) percent ... they don't want us to know how tiny it is personal cars. Of all the cars on the road ... what would twin cab utes be ... lets be incredibly generous and say 5%. So we are talking about 5% of 5% of 20% of 1%. bascially we are talking about a sparrow fart in the global emissions. This is all in your head and you just want to control what others buy.Are you aware that Tesla doesn't do marketing apart from a few socials? So I reckon your statement is entirely made up.
Just a moment...
Again.. clearly looking at the numbers Australians have been convinced that they need dualcabs and they are prepared to pay for them. But - we got by and did everything we needed to up until very recently without them. So if we want to achieve our climate goals then at least some of us are going to have to make better choices.
I'm not sure what you mean. You were talking twin cab utes, but are now referencing "SUVs" which is a stupid american term that cover pretty much all of the jacked up hatchbacks sold today. Most of which are just small FWD hatchbacks jacked up a bit with big wheels so middle aged women will buy them.I'm darn sure car companies will be fighting to the bitter end to keep milking the DC/SUV cash cow. I'm also sure they hope that when NVES bites they will somehow be able to dodge it.

My disco easily towed 3.5 JTOn duel cab utes I drove the Korean KGM musso the other day. Its sort of ok. Not 3.5 tonne and not solid state. The battery is interesting as I think it would be possible to swap it out for the 3 times plus range and 50 times faster charging Solid state about to drop. Its clearly not as good a 4wd weapon the Disco was!! My economic mind say do not buy it. 400ish km range and a few missing bits of tech missing like the Speed sign recognition on most new cars was hmmmm. I had that on the petrol French car I had in the UK. Really helpful as the signs and changes there were missed by me often- the 2wd pick up is miles behind my mg. I will try the AWD version before making a final choice on it.

Here is a breakdown of whether this is "Fact" or "AI":
1. Is the Text AI-Generated?
Likely Yes (or heavily templated). The structure of the text ("Welcome to...", "If you're interested in...", "Subscribe to...") is a generic marketing template used by thousands of YouTube channels. It is highly probable this text was written by or refined by an AI tool (like ChatGPT) to optimize for the keywords listed at the bottom (SEO tags like "China social issues," "China wealth gap").
2. Is the Content Factual?
The topics are Factual, but the presentation may be Sensationalized.

I note they promised the role out of the 1000kWh charge network here. Guess we will have to wait for 2026 for this role out promise.
400km recharge in five minutes! BYD hyper-fast 1MW chargers coming to Australia
PharmacySydney.com
October 23, 2025 Bruce Newton
BYD’s industry-leading one megawatt hyper-fast DC Flash Charger is coming to Australia in 2026 on the direct order of global chairman Wang Chuanfu.
Chuanfu has made it clear he sees Australia as particularly suitable for BYD’s groundbreaking 1000-volt/1000kW DC chargers.
Or even better. Just buy one with a proper motor and it'll be good for decades.... What a pointless heap of junk. Imagine how pathetic the range will be if you load it down with a ton in the tray and a builders trailer on the back (which it should be easily able to tow).

BTW: I'm just stunned everytime someone mentions 5 minute charging. Talk about a pipe dream. Its like all common sense evaporate when people buy these cars. I wish I could just blindly follow the cult like nuttyness that is screamed at us from the heavens as being amazing.
If you believe there will suddenly be "1 megwatt" chargers appear like magic everywhere. I have this gold mine for sale you might be interested in. So I'm your average "not smart" person. Your average petrol station has what .... 10 pumps. So ten 1MW chargers will require the output of 10MW. Now lets be very generous and say the charging infrastructure is 80% efficient. That means we are going to need a twelve million watt grid connection. Sure thing, they grow on trees and are readily available.
The stupidity of all of this just defies belief. To put this stupidity into perspective, I just googled how many 250kw chargers are in australia. Tesla one of the most wealthy companies in existance has managed to build sixteen .... So in a country of 7.7 million square kms ... there is 16 fast chargers. Wow, let me do a dance of excitement.
If they do manage to roll out some token 1MW chargers, it will be multiples of the cost of filling with petrol/deisel if it is to be financially viable and cover the costs of the grid connections and infratructure. Its all just nuts ....

Try plug share. google may not show you the 350kwh charge site that are now more common and about to be outclassed.
Off topic Classic cars show in Drysdale tomorrow. Lots of them drove the Esplanade with Thousands of spectators. Landies, Jags, Rolls-Royce and lots of Left Hand Drives put a smile on my dial. An Amercian Office at a South Head Navy Based had a Transam. Think KIT? The beautiful black car was driven over the gangway of that Base often with me thinking how generous the Lieutenant was as he allowed so many people to drive his car while he said in the left.
Give me a break I was 16 years old!![]()
At these higher power sites, are they capable of delivering 350/250KW to everyone charging.... I'm guessing for example a 350kw connection will be shared amongst all of the chargers onsite. So if anyone else is charging, you will not get a fast charge. This is all very intersting and will work well until you talk any sort of scaling for a mass rollout.

The only multiple 350 plus I know is near me at Torquay. It has 2x 350 2 or 4 50kwh and several lower granny chargers for guests RACV Torquay Resort | Jan Juc, VIC | EV Station
There was one at Ballarat which was smashed up by people who hate EVs apparently. All of them go at 100%.
Fully agree with most lesser places that may half the charge rate like the one in Port Fairy. It has a CCS and another CHAdeMOtype which is hardly used in my use there. It does go to 25 if the other plug is used. Your correct in assuming ramping and waiting for some at times. with so many options now I just skip to the next option usually. Portland, Warrnambool, Camperdown and Colac or others just of the main highway.
I am a electric jesus disliker. Dozens of those type are fequently skipped for the better price by other networks or just my very bias view on defimation and tirllion 4 pay packet for losing sales for two years running by that VIP
It was a PITA before with very few choices with my hospital runs for a few years.
Cool bit is you do it your way and I do it my way. No more chemo express runs means I have more time now.
Off topic- Doing a HR truck license again this week as my Navy one has clearly expired. Be warned I am likely to be in 13+ tonne driving mode at times again nowHopefully not often with lights and sirens. It will be big and slow of course
Apparently I can go a bit over speed with code one runs. I note the loaded fire truck is incapable of the 110kpm freebie in Code One unless a downhill slope perhaps
