A study of electric vehicles (EVs) has demonstrated stronger-than-expected performance for older batteries, even when significant mileage has been clocked up.

In the largest study of its kind so far, the
Generational 2025 Battery Performance Index Industry Benchmark Reportexamined more than 8000 electric passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in the UK.
It's worth noting that modern batteries will most likely last longer again - which is why IMHO modern BEV batteries will most likely last the life of the car. With 0 maintenance.

For those into AI (might not be this audience).

Tesla has officially commenced the rollout of its 'Grok' artificial intelligence companion for eligible vehicles in Australia and New Zealand.
Some owners on Reddit have reported chatting with the AI for an entire 40-minute commute, noting they were highly amused by its generation of conspiracy theories.
In true Tesla form I got a notification on my phone while I was at work. I checked and no one was using the car at home so I hit update. Maybe I'll check it out when I get home.

I remain convinced that I could have a solid entry in the most eclectic garage awards. Maybe i'll ask it for advice about the synchro hub on my Elan or whether I can actually get the defender AC to work.

In all seriousness this is a solid upgrade if the online reviews are correct.

Tried grok on the way home from the pizza shop.

Easy to set up and get going while at a traffic light. Started talking to it about my pizza that we'd ordered. Thought was a bit surreal.

So then I just said "Hey I've got a funeral at church XXXX in ipswich tomorrow. Can you tell me how much battery from home to there and back?".

A couple of seconds later "It's 80k return, and will use 18% battery which means you'll be back home with 62%".

So - I think people will pay attention to the ability to discuss your day with your car, but I think the best thing about it is that it's voice commands on another level. I do think people will find it handy for trip planning and arranging stuff while they drive.

Sounds like hell on earth to me. I'll take a 30year old car ... throw some fuel in it, not ****ty electrics trying to tell me what I should do. No crappy electronics trying to pacify me "yes your anxiety ridden electric throw-away shouldn't leave you stranded somewhere". Maybe I'll buy a nice big V8 mercedes from last century .... throw some dino juice in it and be happy. A million times the car of any crappy electric throw-away.

The defender has been out of the shop for a total of one week this year. The lotus is having a gearbox fixed.

Sometimes I just need one car that works! A reliable car.

What is your point? I'm willing to take that unreliable defender from you if its no good. I'll save you from yourself. You can go buy a nice 4wd electric throw-away. It would be awesome. I'd probably own it until the day I died, and it would cost me pocket change to run.

How are we all feeling about fuel security tonight?

Let's hope it's not an issue, and that we learn that things like this are never an issue until they are an issue. And when it's an issue it's too late to do anything.

seeing most of our power is generated from coal i feel pretty good about electricity.
I would be more worried if China attacked Taiwan, but China will be the main loser without Iranian and Russian oil.
