I've owned a few Subaru's.. Liberty RS Turbo, Forester and then a WRX.. All from new.. Sold the WRX in under 2 years - the engine kept shutting itself off (always when driving, usually 80-100km)... Despite multiple attempts Subaru Australia could never fix it... Just because it's from Japan - doesn't always mean that it's reliable... I wouldn't say no to an R35 GTR though... ;-)

Just buy a 5-6 year old C63 AMG Mercedes and be done with it, fits the kids and groceries and beats all on the road... safe, reliable, build quality second to none...

I've thought that if I ever needed to have a 'sensible' car, I would own the heck outta a fast German wagon. Specifically a C63 AMG estate.
Traffic light drags with a boot full of kidlets would never be the same again !

GTR. GTR. GTR. Any time. Any place. GTR.

However, I'd be happy with the first FIAT 124 Sport I ever owned. Not fast. Not quick. Handled like a 1970 car. Braked like a 1965 car.

BUT. Looked like a Ferrari, sounded fan-bleeding-tastic, revved into the stratosphere, and was, above all else, FUN.

Of course, there was reliability. Every car I've had, before or since, was better. Even the Discos. But I'd have it back today in a heartbeat.

Anyway. GTR. And no, I do NOT mean a Torana.

Yes, the GTR is a seriously fast car, I've actually had the pleasure of driving one, but would you believe it, on the day that it was arranged it was raining, so speeds not so good.
The base edition today is the one I would go for, nothing comes close for the price, and my very limited driving ability would prevent me from discerning any difference to the two upper models anyway!
