Why not the original Peter Gunn theme? I used to watch that programme many years ago.

The themes from "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" series of films by Ennio Morricone always stick in my mind. Instantly recognisable. Also the music in Blade Runner by Vangelis. Added a huge amount of atmosphere to the film.

However, the soundtrack from The Blues Brothers is a good call, Muppet.

Ah, yes. Good call. He also scored "Once Upon a Time in America". Another good one.
He also scored "The Mission" which is touted as the best movie soundtrack of all time.

What about Lalo Schifrin for the soundtrack of the movie "Bullitt" and the TV series "Mission Impossible"?

Didn't know that! But I have to say that I don't really recall any music in that particular film either.

From what I understand these weren't just used for IB, but prior films.
    Also features some David Bowie

Agree. Both instantly recognisable. For "Mission Impossible", you could play that bit of music and probably 90% of the population would recognise it and be able to name it.

Following my Vangelis theme....the Chariots of Fire theme?

Or the music on 2001: A Space Odyssey (don't know who wrote that one though).

First time I watched that film was on a Qantas flight to Hong Kong. Probably didn't get to experience the full effect of the soundtrack due to the constant interruptions over the tannoy.

"Also sprach Zarathustra" was composed by Richard Strauss. "The Blue Danube" was composed by Johann Strauss. Can't recollect who composed the rest.
I have that sound track on vinyl as well.

    You mean Also Sprach Zarathustra?
    It's by Richard Strauss

EDIT: Whoops, Mick beat me to it.

I'm surprised they allowed that to be shown, I thought they might be worried about offending people
