Traveled to the wilds of NE NSW for the Australia day weekend and spent it along the Nymboida river. Here's a few pics taken in the Nymboida National park which was a bit tricky to find and to access but well worth the effort.
All photos taken with Nikon D7000 and Nikkor 200-500 mm zoom.

    Forest Kingfisher - juvenile

    1/200 sec, f 7.1, ISO 400, 480 mm

    Superb Blue Wren

    1/640 sec, f 6.3, ISO 800, 500 mm

    Brown Honeyeater (I think)

    1/1000 sec, f 6.3, ISO 800, 410 mm

    Silvereye

    1/30 sec, f 7.1, ISO 500, 500 mm.

Whilst this photo is nothing outstanding it is a very good example of how good the VR is on the Nikkor 200-500 zoom.

This photo was a quick 'snapshot' at full zoom on the shady side of the tree with a bright background and the subject distance about 9 metres with 1/30 second exposure and handheld . A very good result considering.

The markings on its chest look a bit like the little wattle bird I have in my front yard.
