A mystery bird , haven't identified this one yet.

Taken near Halls Creek WA last August. It was having a party with Yellow Throated Miners, Yellow Plumed Honeyeaters and Little Friar Birds in a Bauhinia Tree otherwise known as a Warralong Tree.

    Nice pic.

Got any more shots of it?

    Maybe a Rufous throated Honeyeater.

Very difficult to ID them at times, there are so many honeyeaters that look similar.

Sometimes another pic from a different angle and in different light helps.

No other photo's, this was a one off 'snapshot'. Not bad considering.

I reckon you're on the money even though it was ignoring the trees nectar and gnawing on a bug. I considered and discarded the Rufous Throated Honeyeater because of the lack of rufous throat and face colouring but looking at images on Google Images these attributes can be absent, thanks for the ID

Hi Don. The female that I think is the bigger bird will eat out of your hand .The hen pecked hubby a bit more timid .I hope they have more success than the sunbirds, the chicks first flight didn't end well
