I was at one of those birds of prey shows in Darwin a while back and they mentioned the wedgie has good enough eye sight to read a news paper at 2Km away.

Not wanting to insult the "bird loving picture takerers" I did happen to "catch" a bird in a recent pic. Didnt even know until I looked at the pic on my computer.

Last year Couple sqatters shifted into the workshop built a nifty little house with a veranda out the front and hatched two chicks .Couple of months ago they were back doing renovations then just dissapeared. The other night I was on the computor in the office when the bird came in from the workshop and landed on the screen,(frightened the crap outa me ) Don't know if it was trying to tell me to turn the lights off or make sure the doors were open at first light in the morning. And no I don't drink or do drugs

Too dark i recon, the young ones are golden, they blacken with age.
The fluffed up feathers in the centre of its chest is probably a full crop, looks like its recently had a good feed.

We had one as a pet when i was a kid,she had leather jessies, attached to a 6ft dog chain, attached to a heavy wire,so the chain ran along the wire.
She used to return a thrown cricket ball, and always would be at the end of the line in the afternoon, waiting for us to come home from school.

No it is an adult Lesser Spotted Eagle that was feeding on its prey.

    P.S. I don't live in Australia.
