I agree that the CS suite is $$$$$$

But Lightroom is currently an absolute bargain, $110.00 for the FULL version Buy Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 for Windows & MAC (65149881) for just $110.00 Save $26.40!

With LR4 in the pipeline, now looks like a great time to buy LR3.

    Cheers

If you or your child has a school ID you can go here and buy CS5.5 for $179 ( Which is what I did) or CS5.5 + LR3 for $280.

    Congrats on the purchase oldsalt.

If you have never used LR before, it may take you a bit of time to get your head around how it works. There are tons of fantastic web based support sites.

This is a great place to start Home | The Lightroom Queen

But also checkout youtube for vids.

If you run into any problems feel free to drop me a line.

    Cheers

Aperture, Nik Software plugins, Photoshop CS5, Capture NX2.

On a Mac either Aperture or Lightroom are good. On a PC, I'd be seriously looking at Lightroom. I really only use Photoshop nowadays when I need to use layers or have more brush control. Capture NX2 is the best for when you want to tweak a NEF file but again I tend not to use it as much nowadays.

I bet you know someone who is in school.. or employed by a school or university.. (it doesn't matter what job they do it all counts)..

And I use CS5 and on occasion Paint shop pro (which is a decent program and cheap enough)..

Thanks Sue, but I'm assuming that it would all be tied to the name of the person who bought it, and that wouldn't match with my computer I.D.
I just wish they made a "cheaper" version - I'd gladly pay $300 or so but the recommended "retail" is ridiculous !!!!
Ah well I'll start learning LightRoom 3 tomorrow - and if I ever sign up for a uni course or somesuch I'll buy myself CS5.....
    cheers
