Some time back I bought close to the 'base model' EIZO. I am very happy with it.
At the time the Dell Ultra-sharps were the main competition, at a similar price point.

If only there were someone with a SpyderPro somewhere handy tome it would no doubt be even better.

(Though as I understand it that's only really necessary if you know the details of the place you'll be getting prints done through so you can match the colours you see to what you'll get on paper).
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Mate, I have a Spyderpro4 you're welcome to try. I'm at Kuraby. The Spyder makes a hell of a difference.

I was offered the ViewSonic VA2446M for a very gentle price http://www.viewsonic.com/us/va2446m-led.html, but I will need to update my VGA card to a fullHD type to be able to enjoy the resolution requiered for photo editing.

Do you think that it is from the same breed of previously mentioned monitors?

Hey Pete maybe not to early. I have to say I really like the dell enough that I was considering getting rid of the Asus and buying a second Dell as the second monitor. The only thing stopping me is the ability to connect it I would have to upgrade my video card for connectivity. Might not be a bad thing as I currently don't use the video card to connect as both the monitors are currently connected through the motherboard as the video card couldn't entertain the monitors due to the way the monitors connected. So who knows It's been quiet in here, let's talk about Monitors

Yeah refresh I don't think is an issue isn't that to do more with movement and ghosting?
Most important thing for me is sharpness and colour accuracy
