I have the how to covered.

I just want some large format negatives to try with the scanner. I have done a number of 35mm negatives and slides from my collection.

Before I commit a lot of money to a panorama film camera I want to test my scanner's ability on the large format film.

Commercial scanning of these large negatives is very expensive.

I have half a 6x17 made from two bronica etr's side by side. The only thing its missing is the 4x5 lens needed to complete it - something I will do 'one of these days'.

I've had my eyes on (and bidded on at several camera auctions) a fuji 6x17 but have never been able to commit the money to get the hammer. These are serious bits of kit, and I tip my hat to anyone who has made the commitment.

I do, however have some 120 neg and positive film made up of severl 645 shots..

I have been looking for a while at the panorama cameras. But the problems of digitizing the work has been keeping me back. I solved that issue I hope.

The question is are you willing to loan a stranger some of your film? You you will get your film back and the digital files produced.

Not quite the same, but I did all that stuff on a 35mm panorama back for my Bronica 645. Easy to get processed, too, as long as you tell them not to cut the negs.

I've never had much luck with scanning. I bought a really good photo scanner, but the higher you set the resolution the more it renders the defects on the negative

Mowog I'm not exactly sure what you will gain by scanning someone elses film. Perhaps I've mis-understood?. I think the V700 would be ideal for MF or LF work.You might need to experiment with different film until you find one that works best for you (although judging from your flickr stream you know your way around film very well). This combination (6x17 film and V700) will blow any digital solution out of the water, unless you want to spend $20k-$50k on a hassy or mammy digital data back. I have the same scanner and I'm very happy with it. I'm yet to try MF or LF; however, I would be looking at using something like one of the custom holders from Doug Fisher. I tend to hang my 35mm film for 24hours before scanning just so that it lies flat on the film holders. I image this task will be much harder with MF or LF. The scanner has a reasonable focus zone and tweeking (with the spacers) only helps when your trying to optimise for max resolution, however in your case I'm guessing that you only need something like 2400ppi, so its not so critical.

I have been very pleased with my canon scanner with medium format film. I can't really imagine what you hope to achieve with scanning a 6x17 neg as a test? If you're happy with the quality of the 35mm, then its only whether the holder will hold the 6cm negative flat enough for you. I think the Epsons have more adjustment for this anyway, should not be an issue.

If its just for testing, grab yourself a cheap old MF folder, take your own photos and have developed, and see what you make of it. The scan quality will be the same whether 645 or 6x17. Even my scanner will do that sort of length (2 6x9 frames).
