Thread: Roof top tent for 110

Bunnings sell an alloy chequer plate cabinet that is a bit similar although you would need one for each side. Not anywhere near the quality probably but you may not need industrial quality. You would also need to put on a dropside tray probably.

I noticed that the Hannibal Rooftop tents are fairly pricey, but the same model is available from Hannibal USA at a much cheaper price. Given the strength of the Aussie dollar, has anyone done the sums on buying from USA and forking out for shipment to AUS?

Just wondering if you have looked at getting two 1.5x 2.4 ( folds down to 1.2 x 1.5) My tent has opening both sides - we have a canvas carry cover for the three Wolf boxes we use for clothes. Based on my Defender's roof rack, I could have two RTT and the box in between. Having two tents will allow you a bit more privacy than a single large tent and you get a lot more space than a single tent.

This show my Discovery with the $400 tent on top which remained leak proof even during quite heavy rain. We applied additional water proofing to the tent, and that worked really well.

nobody has mentioned the howling moon range. So thought I would throw them into the mix. I have had a howling moon tourer for close to 10 years and cant recomend them highly enough. I know there is a supplier in WA that will ship aus wide. The tourer 2.4 x 2.4 would be worth a look at if your looking at somthing for the whole family and comes with the zip on room. Also as iain_B said you could also look at having 2 as they will fit on the roof of a defender.

I checked out their website - very confusing diagrams. I couldn't make much sense of them. Might have to have a look in the flesh.

Mind you, having the Hannibal dealership within an hour's drive is very helpful.

Mate I would suggest that it would be a good idea to have a look at the Hannibal with a Jumbo fly.

I have had one for some years now and it's been throught the Gulf, deserts and Tassie.

Even my wife likes it !!

Set up in 5 minutes pack up in 10 by myself.
