Thread: Capsicum fillings ( Dolmeyeh Felfel)

    Capsicum fillings ( Dolmeyeh Felfel)

    Ingredients: ( 4 servings)

    • 4 large green or Red or Yellow Capsicums
    • 250 grams of ground lamb or beef
    • 100 grams of long-grain or Basmati rice or Brown rice
    • 2 medium onions , finely chopped
    • cooking oil
    • 3-4 teaspoons of tomato paste
    • salt
    • black pepper
    • 2-3 teaspoons of sugar
    • 3-4 spoonfuls of fresh lime juice
    • 1/3 cup parsley,finely chopped
    • 1/3 cup mint,finely chopped
    • 1/2 cup spring onions,finely chopped
    • 1/3 cup garlic chives,finely chopped
    • 1/3 cup tarragon,finely chopped ( optional )


    Fry the onions in cooking oil over medium heat until golden,
    Add ground meat and fry further until meat changes color.
    Add 1/2 cup of water , salt,pepper and the tomato paste.
    Mix and cook further until water boils off.

    Fry prepared vegetables in cooking oil over medium heat untill
    all the vegetables is Wilted.

    Boil 2 cups of water in a small pot. Add teaspoon of salt and
    rice and boil further until rice softens. drain the water and let it cool slightly.


    Mix the prepared meat , vegetable, lime juice, sugar and rice





    Cut a circle at the top of the capsicums and remove all the seeds.


    preheat the over at about 180 deg *c.



    place the capsicums in a baking dish and fill them with the mixture.



    place the baking dish in the oven and bake till cooked.

    Dolmeh = Fillings ,
    Felfel = Pepper or Capsicum

    Initially I hadn't baked them enough so in they went inside the oven and baked for extra 15 minutes but I lowered the heat down to 160 deg*c. some folks actually place them in a dish with a bit of water steam them on stove top. all depends what you like .

    I found that the stuffing would fill 6 capsicums , so might pay to buy an extra 2 capsicums.

    I haven't done much to the rangie since I replaced the head/gasket on the 3.9 otherwise I'm home anytime this week if you wish to pop around for a cup of tea and some scones
