    G'day AnD3rew,
Do yourself and your fridge a favour and change your plug to a Merritt plug, creates a much better connection and stops it from shorting when your on corrugations or rough roads. Nothing worse than getting to your campsite only to find your fridge hasn't been on!

    Cheers
    Julian

Thanks Julian, I am having the Traxide kit installed which has two new outlets, but I am assuming they are cigarette style sockets so I would have to have these changed again to accept the merit plug.

Good tip just ordered myself a set of plugs as I had a plug coming loose during our last trip fortunately caught this early.

I looked for a while for second hand ones, and while I didn't see them as more expensive than new, I have to agree that they are so expensive it makes buying new a lot more attractive. When you see a ten year old Engel for $800 and a new one is $1200 it makes it an easier decision.

Hi guys, just to throw another one into the confusion, has anyone got an opinion on the Ironman ice cube fridges? Had a quick look at one today, about $700 for a 40l I think. Sounds like good value, danfos compressor, 0.7 a/hr, long warranty etc.

    Which Fridge

I bought a Waeco CF50 a couple of months back from Anaconda on 20% off sale including bag.

Fortunately they are just down the road as the first two didnt chill. Have to say Waeco were great and said straight up over the phone to return them. Fortunately I had made the purchase a month before a big trip. I have had no problems since.

Be careful the Dual zone pulls almost three time the amps, I am no elec but thought it might shorten the charge on my battery.

Been running my Bushman for the past three weeks solidly over 5000ks of dirt sand and highway and 40plus degree temps, including 3 night camping with no driving and with the Traxide kit, never looked like running out of juice. It performed brilliantly. Only slight hiccup was the plug did drop out once on a dirt road and it was several hours before I realized, but it was still cold inside. I thinki may take Julian's advice and install Merit/Hella plugs.
