Thread: Which fridge???

In the Cub we have one of the new ARB 47l fridges and it is good, I love the drain plug in the bottom makes cleaning any spills easy. I cut the cig/merit plug off of the lead and put an anderson on it instead, no chance of that coming loose.

I've got an ABR Sidewinder 50l (has a 12l freezer section) in the back of the Patrol, it has an italian compressor in it and is a good unit, but they are no longer being made. We set up the storage system with a slide to take the Waeco 80 as an upgrade, but I've been impressed with the ARB, might just get their 60l instead, though Waeco have the 80l now without dual zone.

If you own a Landrover you like tuff things that don't brake easy, things that are made from aluminium, things that last a very.... very.. long time. You probably go places... hot places others don't get to or don't want to get to, you are rugged and independent, you don't follow the crowd , you choose your stuff carefully and only buy stuff that's rugged and tuff just like you. Then if you own a Landrover .... especially a Defender or Series the there is only one fridge "The Trailblazer" hand made in Caloundra QLD these are the best in the world. Made to military specs and sold around the world to transport vaccines., They are the toughest fridge by far, the standard model has 75 mm insulation or you can get a back of the ute job with 125 mm insulation. They are made from aircraft grade aluminium just like your Landrover. they run a danfos compressor draw very little power . My solar 108 watt cell runs it no worries. Up north when its over 45 deg in the shade the Engles and Wacos cant keep your tinnies cold and your bait and fillets will go off . Only the "Trailblazer " keeps working like its in a blizzard. Yes that extra insulation means they are a bit bigger than others and they cost a bit more but you get a hand built Aussie made classic. I have 2 friends who have owned theirs for over 20 years and they are still running, one never stops when not in the van its a hard working bar fridge. You can run em as a freezer or a fridge or both same time using a bit of insulation between layers. on freezer mode they are like a snap and pull fillets down fast.
You can order them online or go to the factory like I did and watch yours being made. They are in Grigor street Caloundra Google them up you wont be sorry. I have no commercial interest in these at all they are just a dam good fridge. Just ask anyone who owns one.

Not understanding the hate for Engle in here?
I have an MT45F (near 2 years old now) and a MT35F closer to 4 years old now, both have run side by side in my old suzuki on a hot summer day with the car locked up would have been well over 40 inside the car, never missed a beat? left the MT45f sitting on the sand with a batteyr beside it for 4 hours in direct sunlight aswell, never had a sign of giving up.

build quality i can fualt the engle, mates iron man fridge feels cheap and plasticy but works, same with mates waeco's i don't like the plasticy feel but they work. .

Ill be getting another engle for the camper trailer, wouldn't even consider another brand(maybe those alloy ones from the sunny coast, cant remember the brand, maybe one of them).
