No pics Malleefowl but you're right, we do one end at a time.
We do the back end half up, put some pins in to hold it and then do the front end in one go. Then go and push the rest of the backend up. Takes the two of us about 30 secs to get camper bit up and then its just swinging out the backdoor to get to the kitchen and connecting gas and water.
Was a prototype idea that hubby came up with and works well but requires very heavy gas struts- more than we had originally thought. The trailer was the bit that lets it down (over the years we've had a cracked drawbar - at Weipa!, floor lifted, not so dust/water sealed, gas bottle holders rattling off) Made us realise the importance of good design. Looking back, I wish we'd spent more on the trailer part.

A few reasons:
1. Our camping style - we like to visit game parks and park off at a campsite for 2-3 days. So when we want to go for a game drive early in the morning (0600) or in the late afternoon (1600), it means taking the tent down and then putting it back up again.
2. Both SWAMBO & I are 1.6m tall - so reaching the zips on the RTT can be a PITA - climbing on the wheels, etc.
3. That midnight loo run is a bit of a mission - you have to get dressed while lying down, climbing down the (sometimes slippery) ladder, then getting back in the tent, at which point the tent is cold again, etc
BUT, if you like to camp for 1 night and then take off the next morning, RTT is probably better.
We are looking at a canvas ground tent made by Tentco, it has a metal frame and measures 1.5x1.5x1.8m - so we can stand upright and plenty of space to put our clothes ammo boxes in the corners.

Yes, I always forget what a hassle that is until that time arrives!
I hadn't even thought about packing up for day trips - that's how we camp too (obviously w/o the game park part tho!) What a nuisance. Thanks for the feedback.

Very simple setup. Tanami tent with all the cooking gear, cupboards and table in the annex. It will be replaced later this year with a camper trailer. It was enough to keep solid rain off for two days and make a comfortable base camp (Rainbow Waters park). Its most important mission was to convince the missus that camping can be comfortable, hence the green light for the camper trailer. Doesnt hurt that a mate of mine had his trailer parked next door
