bit out of topic, I've been wondering whether to replace my engine oil cooler lines or not. The rubber still looks perfect and feels perfect but after 17 years..... mmmmmm. Did the rubber on yours look worn and brittle?
There was no outward sign of trouble until there was a smokescreen that James Bond would have envied following me down the freeway and oil pouring down the outside of the right hand mudguard.

I am absolutely spewing about this transmission. I really needed it to hang on long enough for me to be ready for an engine swap. It has been doing exactly what Spook describes, hanging on in first gear for ages then slow in subsequent changes when cold. I figured it was the governor sticking and the whole thing was doomed. I have a low-k reco spare with a low-stall torque convertor sitting in the shed, I was in such a rush to get the car back on the road after the transfer swap that I talked myself out of the extra work to swap the trans whilst the transfer was out. Sigh. Think I'll get this done and forget about the engine swap.

Do you have another motor yet? Might be worth pulling the whole lot out at once. A bit of a bitch of a job getting to all the torque converter/bell housing bolts.

Mate still have not done anything yet looked into a few things iv been told to change the governor but don't no what it is all i no well i think its in the back of the auto, and they say i can take the transfer case off to access this governor but its all new to me still sticks in first when cold then its fine this is just a painful one this problem unless you got plenty of cash.

When they done the governor in my T700 box it was in and out of the auto place within a couple of hours. It was accessable from the side of the box but it seems the rangie one is behind the transfer case but i tell you, it fixed all my problems and only cost a couple hundred to do!

    Cheers......................Pete!

Came across this the other night, same issues but simple fix might be worth a try.
