Getting the engine up to temp isn't an issue, but getting warm air into the air intake would be. I'll have to set it for a Melbourne Winter and redo it when it warm up in a few years...![]()

'El Burro' 2012 Defender 90.
Well, fitted the new stepper and also a new thermostat (82 degree) which Mick_ marsh helped me fit as he came around for a visit in one of his vehicles. Took it for a drive to check everything out. Temp stabilised at 93 which I thought was a little odd so I stuck a thermocouple in the top rad hose to check and once I had that connected the right way around it confirmed what the gauge said.
Got down the street to Autobarn to see if they had any decent specials on, then went back to the Rangie - and it won't start...
Cranked and slowed like the batteries were flat then only clicks. When running the voltmeter was sitting right on 14 and the batteries are new, so here we sit waiting for the RACV to tow us home...
Still don't know why it runs 10 degrees hotter than the thermostat though...

Back at home.
Got to love Total Care...
RACV a man turned up, confirmed my diagnosis, whacked the starter a few times to no avail. Complemented me on my wiring and called a tilt tray which turned up 10 minutes later.
No one bagged me out for what I was driving, and I got a few compliments too. May have also got a a new member to sign up that has 2 x RRC's but is looking for a good one to stick his running gear in.
Not a bad day, the engine temp stayed rock solid once bled up properly and it idles like a dream with the new stepper motor, but I still hate the way it revs so hard on start up - particularly when cold - I would really like to do something about that.
Yes, I love owning my Landies.![]()
