Hi mate, yes I tried nipping up those bolts, but still got a tiny leak until it heats up. I think it is just because it has been standing for so long. When I first fired it up, there were also a few drips from the water pump, but they stopped pretty quick and never came back.

No big deal to do the manifold gaskets.

If you have the Disco console I would like to try that - you about tomorrow or working?

    Cheers - Gav.

Hi Dave, thanks for that console, it fits quite well, and will be a great start for everything. Will still need to modify the hi/lo shifter and add some fibreglass to the sides to get it to cover the tunnel where I need it to, but that will be easy compared with starting from scratch.

Do you have the hi/low shifter gator and a few of the other bits for it?

    Cheers - Gav.

Yes Gav I have the H/L Gator and what ever else you need somewhere in one of the piles. I have the Hi/low selector from a RRC auto as well. I wonder if the lever is longer. Probably to late to swap now though.

I'm on Annual leave this week so will be around. Just call to check before hand.
    Cheers, David.

Fixed my wifes Astra air con for $250 compared to $900 at the dealer.

They do a lot of air con repairs for the smash repairers.

    Cheers

Floor is back down permanently, with everything underneath finished, checked and double checked, so there should be no nasty surprises lurking there.

The console from the Disco donor car will work with some small mods, this also required the hi/low shifter to be modified a bit, but everything is in the right place now.

Ordered new carpets and soundproofing as well, from a company that is just finishing the moulds for the 4 door RRC, so I'll report once I have these and have fitted them. I am going to soundproof the entire interior I think, including the roof, so that should make it as quiet as is possible. I'll post photos once that is done.

So, only got to stick the seats back in, go over everything in the engine bay, stick the bullbar back on, then it's off to Vicroads for the club rego...

Getting excited, and looks like I'll be done in time for a few shake down runs to make sure I tightened everything up properly before its big trip to Melrose.

May even have time to start the interior fit out, but we'll see how we go.

    Cheers - Gav.

Hi John, had a few 'head scratching' moments, but other forum members here got me through those bits. I used the complete engine loom from the Disco donor vehicle. This takes care of the ECU - which I mounted behind the dash to the RHS of the steering column, so I will be VERY wet before that goes under and I would imagine my ignition would let me down while playing in the mud & water long before the ECU goes for a swim.

Off the top of my head, I only had to stick in a constant 12 volt supply, a switched ignition supply and the fuel pump wiring to get it to work - oh, and the feed from the ignition to tell it the engine was turning - I got caught out with that - it runs through a resistor.

Also had to fit an EFI tank and new fuel lines, but I had the floor up, so that was quite easy.

Everything else is how it was with the carby V8 in it. The wiring diagram I used was available on line - there are a few links to it around - I'll see if I can dig it up.

    Cheers - Gav

No probs mate. Let me know if you need any more specific details. Everyone on the forum here is always willing to help. I've never found an issue on my lot that someone else hasn't already had and knows how to fix.

Hope you enjoy your RRC, they are a great vehicle.

Well, I've blown the dust off the Rangie and this thread and finally got it out from under the verandah and back on the road again. Got club reg for it today, so pretty happy. Everything still runs fine on it and now I can concentrate on getting the interior finished, then a new shiny coat of paint.

Will hopefully have it ready for a good shake down run soon - it hasn't done any significant KM since the EFI engine went in.

Also needs the winch bar fitting - that's hanging up in another members shed at the moment - I'll have to pop up and visit you Dave.. That dog of yours must be getting quite large by now.

Then winch, some underbody protection I now have for it, need to fix/replace the load leveller and a few minor things then time to enjoy driving it again. It's been too long.
