Winch into ARB non winch bar

I have just bought another rangie for spares ('89 auto), mainly for the ARB front and rear bars and transfer the auto into my '86 RR.

The front bar is a non winch bar, i have a 9000lb Premier winch on my Suzuki atm that i may fit to it. Somebody got some pix of what need to be done to mount this in there, or someone in the Tamworth aera with a RR ARB winch bar i could have a look at?

Is the auto swap (using my LT230) a bolt in swap?

    Cheers
    Rick

Yes the auto is just a bolt in swap, unless your 86 was manual, then you will have to swap over the radiator, and oil cooler also; and maybe the tail shafts?

THe bracing and mounting of the two bars are different. THe winch bars are conntected with three bolts per side - the normall two bolts, and a bolt straight through the middle of the chassis bout 50 behind the other two; I'd assume this is to spread the twist loading.

THe bracing is heavier; i'm not sure how, but there's a definate weight difference between the two bars. The winch bar has a 1/2 inch plate that the winch bolts onto.

That's all I know. Hope it helps.

Straight swap with the auto. If you have the manual box in there at the moment, then you will need to swap the pedal box, or pull the clutch pedal out. The drive shafts are the same - the auto changes the length to the TC by only a few mm. Also, the wiring for the start lockout will need to be modded - this is easy, as the wiring is there, but bridged out on the plug that runs to the reverse, CDL, handbrake lights. Just cut this, and wire the lockout through it. IIRC it is a brown wire with a red trace.

The non winch bar is different, but it can be done. I have this on my 'To do' list. I was going to make a cradle up out of 6mm plate and mount that between the chassis rail and bolted in where the bar bolts on - I have measured it up, and it will fit, just a bit of fabrication required.

    Cheers - Gav.
