Wot ? - you reckon a sentence and two words is sufficient ?
And, where did "economical" come from ?

Ok completed the project car....almost. Fitted a gems 4.6 complete as it is fitted to a p38 including gems ecu. Running beautiful, economical, powerful and smooth. Big job![]()

Yeah, cough up some pics and some more detail, sounds like a great project.

Yep I'll sort some out.
Basically I was advised that a p38 4.6 complete with gems ecu could not successfully run in a classic without major electronic issues ie the need for a becm to allow the immobilising code transfer from gems ecu to becm to allow the motor to start. Not true. some chipping in the gems ecu allows it to function fine as a stand alone unitmechanically a few hurdles to match up to the classic ZF transmission, but surprisingly alot of the classic was compatible to the p38 unit. Who did you get to do the work on the ECU to make it run on its own?

One of the members on here had one too. His nephew did all the work on it about 10 years ago & has now got the car back again for a rebuild.
After market ECU's

I hear you.... I have a small LR workshop business and have tried for years to get the 3.9/14cux injection to run better economy. I can get them to around 14lts/100. That is why, for my work RR I went for the 4.6 and running the gems 8.2 ecu. 12lts/100 is normal hwy cycle. My thor 4.6 in the p38 will do high 11's to early 12's. I do drive economcally though. The right foot has a lot to do with economy......![]()
