davo appears to have answered my question?
but is using the sikaflex on top of the old seal what most people did, or cut away the orignial seal and profile the sikaflex better ( i think thats what Davo means for future effort)
That might have been my reply to another thread you're thinking of. I used silicone on top of the old seal and smoothed it down with masking tape on either side. The old seal was still intact, just really cracked down at the bottom. The big plan for much later is to redo it with black silicone and a profiling tool so that it look like a proper seal.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

Seems like the quarter vent window seals on 2 doors and early 4 doors share the same fate? Completely out of production?
The mind boggles as to why Paddocks or one of the other big name Land Rover parts dealers in the UK haven't got onto this yet. How hard would it be for one of those companies to source a NOS or mint used item and start having them remoulded etc? You can't say it wouldn't be worthwhile cost-wise, as they would then be the only source for parts that are often needed. Same could be said for that stupid 'by Land Rover' badge on the tailgate of early 2 doors, they go for $300+ from what I have seen. Maybe our luck will change soon with the early Range Rovers becoming collector's items and being restored?
I foresee that the quarter vent window rubbers and door waistline/belt moulding rubbers are the only items I will need for my `74 yet will struggle to find. Have even found entirely new and complete wiring harnesses!
I have a new set of 4 door ones still in the bag if anyone is interested .
Just send me a pm and we can have a chat about what thier worth![]()
