Sure. I'll take a couple of measurements and if it matches the chart above then all good. If not I'll have to map them out to know what the gauge is doing.

    Values for AMR1425 300tdi disco series 1

    Degrees C. Resistance Chart
    100. 37.5 40
    95. 42.5 46
    90. 53.5 53.5
    85 60 62
    82 65 65
    80. 72 71
    70. 92 100
    60 137 140
    20. 620 683

So yeah, about 20 ohms different to yours around the target range. (80-90C). The diesels would have to run hotter to put the needle in the same place.
My needle was straight down at 60 ohms which will be ~85C with the AMR1425 and ~75C with the PRC6317.

Your information has been extremely helpful. If I can't get the right needle position with the AMR1425, I'll give the V8 version a go. The 5/8 UNF thread is so close to M16x1.5 that it might just screw in.

    Didn't work.

Turns out my batteries were down enough when I did the resistor-needle checks that only 4.5v instead of 5v was getting to the resistor at needle-centred position.
I actually need ~80 ohms to hold the needle centred.

The ~63ohms I get with the AMR1425 makes it about a needles width from red. The ~40 ohms from a PRC6317 would be even worse.

So why do I have a mis-match between my 1985 gauges and the senders for this year of vehicle?
