Overheating issue could be a seized thermostat if its been sitting that long.

    Pete

Was for sale but will be mine soon. Removed the thermostat today & it runs cooler for much longer but still goes into the red band after a while. At least the bottom & top hoses are now both hot. Also found a couple of leaks from the radiator, & no flow from the inlet carb manifold back to the radiator. So we removed the air filter & the welch plug from the manifold. It appears quit clean but can't get a flow of coolant out of the manifold.

So radiator is removed & being serviced. Anyone know a quick way to clear the passages in the manifold? I am very happy with it though & will nurse it back to health.

Could not find the seat base covers anywhere & also discovered that there are no tools, jacks, wheel brace etc, which is a shame as just about everything else is present & in good condition for the age. All the clips, bands & cover for the tools are present so I guess I got to go hunting.

Sadly the radiator failed it's service & must now undergo a core replacement. Also still trying to work out how to clear the
bleed line from the stromberg manifold to the RH rad tank. There was no flow at all so it seems there is a blockage in the manifold. Any quick fixes? We have removed the core plug & pocked around with various home made tooling but no sign of a hole!

    Cheers Nigel

    Home at last

Installed the radiator yesterday & got him 20kms closer to home. Rear brakes binding. But today it fixed itself & managed to get him home. Great drive, a few suspension type clunks but drives very well, & scrubbed up quite nicely. A little surface corrosion in places so wonder what to do - respray, polish out ????

Flushed the cooling system & refilled with fresh inhibitor - did replace bottom hose, rest appear OK. Clunk is definitely the shock absorbers so new ones being collected Tuesday, and should make all the difference. With help of wife, daughter & daughter in law, managed to lift the very heavy roof rack off, & today I managed to remove the bullbar - that was heavy as well. I think he looks lot better?

You are absolutely right. I spent this afternoon cutting back a few of the panels with surface corrosion & although not all gone the result is much better. Thanks for the suggestion. A few before/after shots attached. Don't look forward to the roof
